Weight Gain Shakes for Baseball Players

Weight gain shakes for baseball players | The Shake Protocol
Two shakes. Four tools.
Real off-season weight.

Skinny players do not get bigger by eating more chicken. They get bigger by drinking calories they do not have to chew. These are the exact two shakes we use, measured to the gram, plus the four cheap tools that make them repeatable.

Every ingredient and every tool sits in one Amazon list, so you fill the cart in one trip. Prefer to pick and choose? Every row below adds a single item.

Why a shake beats another meal

Calories without volumeHeavy cream, MCT oil and powdered coconut oil stack real calories into one cup. A player who cannot finish a fifth meal can finish this.
Same every single dayWeighed on a scale, not scooped by feel. Consistency moves the number on the scale. One big weekend does not.
Sixty seconds, one cupBlend, drink, rinse. If it takes longer than that, it stops happening by week two.

Two homemade weight gain shakes, measured to the gram

Same method both times: pitcher on the scale, tare to zero, add the next item, tare again. The only thing that changes is the mix.

Cutting or holding weight? These are gain shakes, about 700 calories each. On a cut, make it a half shake after the lift or skip it for a Sunday meal container. Holding weight, one full shake replaces one meal, never sits on top of it. The shake is one of your meals on the meal prep calculator, size it to the per-meal number there.

The no-powder shake, from the grocery store

No protein powder, no creatine, no MCT oil. Same scale, same method, about 850 calories and 35 g of protein from four things your kitchen probably has.

500 g whole milkAbout 300 calories and 16 g of protein. Two percent works, whole is the gain setting.
50 g peanut butterAbout 300 calories and 12 g of protein. The calorie half of the shake.
1 banana, about 120 gAbout 105 calories. Sweetness and potassium, frozen if you want it thick.
40 g dry oatsAbout 150 calories and 5 g of protein. Blend them dry first for a smooth shake.

Blend 45 seconds. On a cut, halve the peanut butter and the oats and it lands near 500. The powder shakes above win on protein per calorie, this one wins on price and on being available tonight.

Nailing the texture and the taste

Too thick?Splash in a little extra water.
Too thin?Dial the water back next time.
Not cold enough?Drop 2 or 3 ice cubes in at the very start, with the liquid.
Not sweet enough?A pinch more sugar. Too sweet, cut the sugar completely.

These tweaks do not touch the benefit of the shake. The shake has to taste good enough that you keep drinking it in February.

Shake and make tools

Shakes and creatine for baseball players, the questions everybody asks

The same questions come up every off-season. Short answers, and where the long one lives on this page.

Which shake is best for weight gain? The chocolate one above, about 700 to 750 calories in a glass you finish in two minutes. The cream, the MCT oil and the coconut oil carry the calories, the mix carries the protein. Powder and water alone is a 120 calorie snack.
How do I make a 3000 calorie shake?Do not. A 3000 calorie shake is a stomach ache and a skipped dinner. Two of the shakes above, one after training and one before bed, add about 1,500 calories on top of three meals. The calorie target on the meal prep page says whether that is enough.
Can a skinny player gain weight with protein shakes?Only if the calories go up. Protein on its own does not add weight, which is why the recipe puts fat and sugar in on purpose. Calories first, protein second. The weight targets page says how many pounds and how fast.
Does MLB allow creatine?Creatine is not on the banned list for MLB, the NCAA or state high school federations. Whether your school will hand it to you is a school rule. Ask the athletic trainer before the first stick.
Should a 15 year old baseball player take creatine? The pediatric position is food first under 18, and it is a conversation with a doctor, not a page on the internet. The parent guide above has the research in plain language. The shake works with or without the 5 g.
Why did I gain 10 pounds after starting creatine? Two to four pounds in the first weeks is water pulled into the muscle, normal and expected. The rest is the food, which is the shake doing its job.
How much protein should a baseball player eat?About 0.6 to 0.9 grams per pound of body weight per day, the International Society of Sports Nutrition range for athletes adding muscle. One shake covers 25 to 30 g of it. The rest is the chicken and the eggs on the meal prep page.

Every answer points to a section on this page or the next one. Not medical advice; the parent and player guides above carry the sources.

Not medical advice. Every page in Player Development is education, built from the public guidance named on the page. It is not a diagnosis and it is not a prescription. Talk to your doctor, your athletic trainer or a registered dietitian before you change how you eat, train or sleep, or add any supplement, and check your league and school rules on supplements first. Pain that does not leave, sleep that will not come, or a game that ends in dizziness or cramping is a doctor or athletic trainer conversation, not a calculator.
